The road leading to Tanjung Leman is not properly tarred and poorly maintained.

About 0.5km of the road leading to the area is uneven and badly damaged with many potholes.

The poor condition of the road causes a jam, especially during the holiday period.

A holidaymaker who travelled from Johor Baru to Tanjung Leman recently was frustrated after being stuck in the traffic jam.

Mohd Hairunizam Othman, 33, said it was his first trip to Tanjung Leman.

"Friends had told me about the beautiful scenery so I took the opportunity to bring my family here for a picnic during the long Chinese New Year break.

"It took us about an hour and a half to reach Mersing from Johor Baru, but it took us more than 30 minutes just to cover 0.5km to the jetty terminal because the condition of the road was so bad.

"It was frustrating and upsetting. My baby started crying and everyone in the car got flustered when traffic was reduced to a crawl with cars slowing down to avoid the potholes," Hairunizam said.

"Something should be done immediately, otherwise, vacationers will stop coming to this beautiful area."
